- The world has many consumers (over 150 nations) but very few producers (a dozen or so countries). Canada, Russia and Belarus account for approximately 80% of output.
- Potash ore bodies in Saskatchewan are the world’s largest, richest and most economical to mine. Canada is expected to reach another record year of production and may pass the 19 Mt KCl mark.
- Canada is the most politically stable and strategically located of the world’s several major potash producers. Canada can guarantee long-term supply without major disruptions.
- The Potash industry you see today is mainly the result of investments made in the 1960s and 1970s. The infrastructure is old and operating at capacity.
